Disciples

The real guru is the light of Truth within oneself. However, the haze of the mind covers the light within, so an external light is needed until the light within shines forth. Once the haze clears, the light becomes One - not to be distinguished apart.

The real guru is the light of Truth within oneself. However, the haze of the mind covers the light within, so an external light is needed until the light within shines forth. Once the haze clears, the light becomes One - not to be distinguished apart.

To receive the guru's guidance, disciples must to be worthy. Above all, they must posses tremendous zeal for enlightenment, indomitable faith, and the determination to reach its fulfillment.

It is written that to progress in Yoga, disciples must have pure faith, humility, receptiveness, openness, obedience, reverence towards one's guru, and ask questions about the Truth.

It is not a requirement to blindly follow the Guru's teachings but it is a requirement to refrain from making judgements based on one's relative and incomplete knowledge. Think deeply and meditate thoroughly to discover whether one's thinking, or the guru's teaching, is the Truth.
