Shri Mahayogi's
Responses to Seekers

True Independence—Atman:
In the heavens above and [on earth] beneath
I alone am the honored one.

Translation of Shri Mahayogi’s words during a satsangha in Kyoto
Nov 3, 2007

Q: When I become able to see Atman within myself and others and everything, how will the world, which I perceive through my five senses, be perceived?

Master: There will be only Atman.

This is because, even though the mind still works and the five senses function, one will only see Atman and only Atman will come to be known. The phrase, “Once the forms and names of everything are removed, what will be left? There is only Atman.” will be realized.

Q: Will there no longer be joy?

Master: Joy in the relative sense will disappear. But at the same time, sorrow and suffering will be gone as well. And bliss, which is inherent in all existence, will be realized. Above and below, Atman alone is precious, because it itself is bliss. Once one’s self is completely realized as this bliss itself, one no longer perceives bliss contrastingly because there is only It. That is bliss. At the same time, the world of forms is itself only that, so that everything becomes so dear, everything becomes so precious, everything becomes bliss.
