Kriya Yoga and the Three Jewels:
Buddha, Dharma and Sangha

Translation of Shri Mahayogi’s words during a satsangha
at the Omega Institute, NY Aug 19, 2011

Q: Through practice, I realized that some sanskaras are deeply rooted in the mind. Please talk about the process of removing those deep patterns.

Master: The Yoga Sutra, an ancient sacred scripture, states, “Yoga is attained by enthusiastic practice and renunciation.” Yoga, in this verse, indicates Self Realization or Enlightenment. The central principles are: the practices which use the physical body, such as asana and pranayama, as well as karma yoga; to study and learn the sacred scriptures, meaning the recorded words of infallible Enlightened Beings; and meditation on the Truth, or on divine beings. You must practice these daily. In particular, the practice of these three is called kriya yoga. Kriya means action. Yoga is not about the action of the intellect, but about application through the physical body. And, how crucial for walking the path correctly the right guru, the right teachings and the right votaries are!
