I see that there is an imbalance in much of the American diet. Even with the
popularization of yoga, the diet of Yogic practitioners is of no exception. Health
is often fanatically worshiped, and as a result, people are thrown into confusion
by the excess of faddish information and products. Do not be concerned with what
you wear or what you eat—this is the Truth. However, it's not until one
fully realizes that Man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that
proceeds from God that one can understand this Truth.
The Eastern spiritual diet, which has been cultivated over a long period of
time, has the quest for Truth as its priority in order to provide balance of
the mind and the body. When one's practice deepens, and when one is steadfast
in thought, word, and deed, realizing even a portion of the Truth, it really
does not matter what one wears or eats. At this point, one is no longer affected
by anything. Until then, bear in mind the proper diet, as well as the right teachings
of the Truth.
