Your generous donation will allow us to continue to provide much-needed emergency relief actions to the disaster stricken areas of Japan with rapidity. As you may be aware, speed is one of the key factors that determine the quality of relief actions. Your prompt response to the cascading calamities in Japan, by way of donations to AAR JAPAN, will certainly help the daily living of the affected population. To brief you about our recent relief actions, we were able to dispatch our staff to the affected areas of Japan on March 13, 2011. During a period from March 14th to March 24th, we performed needs assessment and distributed food and non-food items such as fuel, blankets, and diapers, at over290 institutions, most of which host the elderly and people of disabilities. During the period, we were able to provide to over 38,000 people staying at evacuation camps and institutions in the three most severely affected prefectures of Japan: Miyagi, Iwate, and Fukushima. We will continue to perform immediate and mid- to long-term activities in the region including distribution of food and non-food items, reconstruction of institutions for people with disabilities and elderly people, and provision of mobile clinic services to the people in need.
