Love must be directed only towards others, and love towards others is not possible without respect.
Love is not simply a matter of likes or dislikes but it truly is devotion, adoration, true caring and consideration. If enacted truthfully, it manifests as kindness.
Like the story of how a child loves a doll, the seed of love has sprouted within us already, yet true love often remains misunderstood. Perhaps we are all learning it. There is a famous phrase, ‘God is Love.’ In another words, ‘Love is God.’ To know Love is to know God.
Your love may still be immature, but know that you are moving closer towards pure, True love. Devote yourself to others while sacrificing yourself. Love others. Without this, you cannot say ‘love’ so make it so.
